Further to my post below regarding the flashing display problem in my FT100D, I think I have located a fault in the LO module. I checked for voltages at TP2001 on the LO module for the VCO (varactor tuning voltages). It was 0.1 volt and there is no 1st LO output at J2003. Upon feeling for hot components I found that Q2043 the wideband MMIC amplifier at the 1st LO output is getting very hot. It seems the chip is faulty and needs to be replaced. The chip is the NEC uPC1679G silicon monolithic integrated circuit designed as medium output power amplifier with a power gain of 21.5 dB at 500 MHz.
